Visit the Museum of Bags and Purses and discover the unique collection of Hendrikje Ivo, who collected bags for more than 35 years.
The museum houses a collection of more than 4000 bags and is the largest museum of bags in the world. Since 2007, the museum has been located in the centre of Amsterdam in a characteristic canal house, where the mayor used to live, dating back to 1664.

For your Eyes only: the secrets in the bag
What have you got in your bag? And what does that say about you? From 15 September – 30 January the Museum of Bags and Purses will focus on the contents of the bags. In the exhibition For your Eyes only: the secrets of the bag, bags will be opened up showing the private contents of women’s bags.
The Museum of Bags and Purses is open every day from 10.00 till 17.00.
The museum is closed 1 January, 30 April and 25 December.
The museum is located on the Herengracht, number 573, between the Utrechtsestraat and the Thorbeckeplein, directly behind Rembrandtplein and a 5-minute walk from Waterlooplein (close to carpark and Metro station).
