Made in Britain

The exhibition “Made in Britain” can be seen from 7 September 2009 till 21 February 2010 in the Museum of Bags and Purses. English designers are renowned for their craftsmanship, quality and respect for tradition, combined with modern design. This exhibition provides a comprehensive overview of their unique creations.

For this exhibition, the museum has been able to choose from the recent collections and even the catwalk collection of Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney. In addition, bags designed by Lulu Guinness, Paul Smith, Anya Hindmarch, Bill Amberg, and by brands such as Mulberry and Burberry will be on show. Bags from English designers and brands from the museum’s own collection also complement these nicely.

CRYSTAL loves LEATHER

The Museum of Bags and Purses and CRYSTALLIZED™ –Swarovski Elements  presents the CRYSTAL loves LEATHER exhibition

Leading designers of well-known fashion brands and upcoming avant-garde designers have taken inspiration from CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements and from two new applications of the crystals on leather. The result is a true romance: Crystal loves Leather.

From 8 March till 29 August 2010, CRYSTAL loves LEATHER will be on display in the Museum of Bags and Purses. This wonderful collection was first put on show in the Louvre in Paris, the Modemuseum in Antwerp, in New York during the ‘Accessories Circuit’ and in Tokyo.

Exhibition
The exhibition includes handbags, evening bags, clutches and fashion accessories such as hats and shoes from some 60 designers, including: Hugo Boss, Desmo, Bracher Emden, Lulu Guinness, Coccinelle, Federica Moretti, Banu Erkin, Bernd Michael Ostwald, Valerie Saïd, Valérie Dassa, Stuart Weitzman.

The striking collection pieces that form the highlights of the CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements exhibition are the sparkling evening shoes designed by Viktor & Rolf and the sensational Iconic Lips Clutch conceived by the English designer Lulu Guinness. The Samsonite case covered in thousands of crystals is also a real eye-catcher.

But attention is also paid to the history of Swarovski. Unique items from the Swarovski archives – mainly accessories – are on display.  In addition, the exhibition demonstrates how the crystal stones are cut, the different types that exist, and how they can be worked.
